The recent stuff from this indie act kind of defies genre, but it’s all great

Don’t know where I found this artist, but I’m glad I did. They’re from London, they are stylistically varied but all of their recent stuff has me eager to hear more. The current single Charm is what drew me in — intimate and immersive shoegaze-y indie rock:

This artist has more going on than I expected. Earlier single Show Me Your Mind is a danceable late-night groove, but the vocals maintain the dreaminess:

On their Bandcamp page, they have a cover of FKA Twigs’ Cellophane that they recorded live during lockdown. It is extremely stripped down, haunting, and lovely, distinct but every bit as captivating as the original. It takes some guts to cover a track like this, and she nails it:

Their 2020 EP Hometime is a little more straightforward pop than these songs. Lead singer Poppy Billingham’s voice is the constant, and her vocal range is impressive. Can’t wait to see where they go next.
