Sellout: The Major-Label Feeding Frenzy That Swept Punk, Emo, and Hardcore by Dan Ozzi

I saw many of the bands in this book play live – some in tiny venues before they got big and some as festival headliners. This book was pure nostalgia. Every chapter was loaded with trivia and even the profiles of bands I didn’t care for were fantastic.

Ozzi brings the scene to life – while each chapter stands alone like a Pitchfork longread, there are several figures who show up again and again, and the peek behind the curtain of the punk labels is excellent.

Only drawback is that I couldn’t read it before bed because I kept going down rabbit holes of old music or concert footage on YouTube.
