No idea where I heard this first, but it came up on my new music playlist yesterday, and I spent most of the day listening to their stuff while falling down a wonderful rabbit hole. This duo reminds me a little of Melt Motif, or like Burial remixes of rough cuts from the last CHVRCHES album. It’s atmospheric and dark music, heavy on breakbeat, synth and reverb, with what seems to be a lot of found-sound type vocal clips.

Their prior single is a solid breakbeat-backed thing with a gloriously DIY music video:

If you like that, check out the full album, which is a solid listen end-to-end, a modern take on mid-90s electronica and trip-hop.

The other thing that charmed me about this duo is their commitment to live performance. They feature several live videos on their youtube channel.

They sound good and well-rehearsed, the visuals have a lot of potential, and they fully commit to creating an immersive and energetic experience even when circumstances are less than ideal. I watched all of this and loved it (but can’t embed it).

Now, the rabbit hole: their YouTube channel has an interview they did with something called NeoFuturis TV, and we get a little more of the backstory. Singer Karen is also in a band called Flesh Tetris, a kind of electro-disco-punk band with the strangest music videos I’ve ever seen. I love it all. Just incredibly weird, perfect stuff. Slimy Garnish 4 eva.
