I’ve had Meredith Lampe’s band in the rotation for more than a year, but it wasn’t until the new EP dropped last Friday that I realized that I hadn’t shared her stuff here.
The two initial standouts are Control and Downtime, but after listening to the EP a few times, the last track might be the one that I think about most. The use of the vocal effect is really memorable on this one:
On her profile on her agency’s website, she’s quoted saying this EP is “the first time that I’d been writing with the purpose of making songs fun to play in a live setting”, and it’s audible on the record. These songs have a character and life that are unique and memorable.
The band did an Audiotree session about a year ago, with songs from the prior EP Quitting Season:
That EP is also worth your time, it’s the one that hooked me. Her melodies are memorable, and the lyrics sound very personal and relatable.
