This Toronto melodic punk band is very popular among other local artists. Shiv Scott has such a distinctive voice, she sounds sick of it all in the best possible way, kind of maintaining a temperature just below the point of boiling over. The songs themselves are loaded with sarcasm and anger, but are also melodic and catchy. Their newest EP was on repeat yesterday afternoon.

The first reference point for me was (dearly departed) Dilly Dally — and apparently the former bassist from that band is part of this band’s live arrangement.

They call it “roller skate punk” and I get it, I had a friend that was big into roller derby for a long time and her style definitely lines up with this. Also, this compilation of outtakes from an older music video is fun as hell:

They have a lot of shows lined up and yesterday announced are opening for Lambrini Girls in Toronto in July.
