Been meaning to put this together for a while, but I was sick, then busy. Better late than never.
Here’s some new stuff from artists that I’ve covered previously here.
Good kid – EP4
New EP out today (their fourth, get on with the full length already!). This is a band that is poised to break out in a big way. Their tour kicks off this week, and I can attest to how much fun they are live. You won’t have a bad time at the show.
My kid is a superfan. We saw them play at a Toronto record store back in October, where they played their cover of Laufey’s From The Start for (I think) the first time. They’re great entertainers and musicians. Go see them if you can.
Moondoggy – The Backup Plan
Another throwback-style jam from these guys. Great instrumentation and catchy melodies. It’s one of those songs that even on first listen, feels like something you already know. It’s great.
Kat Koan – Time Alone ft. Freddie Dickson
This is a new arrangement of a song that’s unavailable on streaming platforms (you can hear the original here). It’s atmospheric and intimate, and the guest vocal adds depth and tension to the song. Her album Cocoon deserves a broader audience.
Reminiscent of Garbage at their sultry best.
Blondshell – Docket (ft. Bully)
The artists behind two of my favourite albums from last year. They’d be a great pair for a tour, especially with Bully’s incredible solo stuff.
Been Stellar – All in One
I can’t stop listening to Manhattan Youth (this live version might be the best one).
Their full length is coming out in June, this is the second single (after Passing Judgment). Their sound is a familiar NYC indie rock sound but still has a distinctive and recognizable edge to it:
Glass Beams – Mahal EP
The Ninja Tune EP is out and it’s the grooviest thing you’ll hear today. They’re on tour, and their Instagram is full of announcements of sellouts and upgraded venues. Here’s a video of the whole EP performed live. Watching the performance adds even more depth to the music:
