I didn’t find out about Bitch Fest 2024 (tickets) until very recently, but it looks like a fun bunch of high-energy shows ranging from high-energy guitar pop to serious hardcore. I spent some time going through the lineups to find some bands to add to my radar (in no particular order). I’m sure I missed some and there are several that are so new that they don’t have much music out yet. I bet a lot of these shows will be fantastic.
Days on Parade
More to come about these guys. I’ve been playing their latest album The Point more and more over the past couple weeks — to the point where I decided to do a full deep dive and maybe a post about them. So that’s coming.
Wise Guise
Fast and furious. This track is promising. Can’t wait to hear more.
EDIT: Their EP just dropped — 9 minutes of furious, Hellcat Records-esque ska-tinged punk. Check it out:
Gaijin Smash
Ultra fast, hooky lo-fi noise. I’ve been following this band for a while, I bet they absolutely shred live.
Thunder Queens
Feel like I’ve seen this video everywhere in the last couple weeks. It’s great. The band’s debut LP comes out in April. If I had to place a bet on a breakout band from this series of shows, I’d strongly consider putting it on this band.
(Also: Odyssey Records in London, if you’re wondering. Why is yellow such a popular colour for record shops?)
Neon Bloom
They’ve been around a few years and they sound like they know what they’re doing. Maybe the most polished band in this list, and they sound like they would be killer live.
Back Alley Gospel
Melodic, radio-friendly pop-punk sound. Plus this video is fantastic:
ELECTROKAT
Radio-friendly indie rock, would be at home on any number of 90’s indie movie soundtracks.
Chinese Medicine
Throwback garage post-punk. They sound established and confident, and the Die Aspora EP is fantastic:
