Not much to know about this band – they’re from Montreal, they do dark, synth-y, danceable music with some mystery and lots of charisma. It’s very 80’s influenced, with often-vague lyrics about sinister things. At various points it make me think of Romy, the Drive soundtrack and the last CHVRCHES album.
Singer Valerie Kirkwell’s is pretty versatile – she shifts from haunting, goth-y, near spoken delivery on Leviathan, to sounding like a full on 80’s Annie Lennox-ish pop star on Soft Pull to an ethereal trip-hop sound on Outsider.
It’s a strong start.
