Daze Away – It’ll Make It Better

Beachy lo-fi alt rock. Old-car-stereo-on-a-hot-day-by-the-water music. I bet they’re great live.

These guys are playing April 13 with blog faves Days on Parade in Niagara. Their EP It’ll Make it Better has such a charming DIY sound that just begs to be played by of a crappy tape deck in a 15 year old sedan on a hot summer day. It’s on streaming but not Bandcamp or YouTube, so there’s not a lot to share here.

Maybe their most radio-ready track is the title track (also released with the title Air Japan), which I’ve had stuck in my head all afternoon.

I imagine they’re a good time live. This lo-fi stuff is like catnip to me.

Their 2022 LP Hey! Slow Down, We Got All Day shows a lot of promise too. Tracks like Not Ready and Am I On Your Mind Yet are low-key beach rock, melodic and catchy even if they’re unpolished. Journeyman sounds like a cover of a 70s country track. Let’s Rage would be great with a crowd.

I did find a video of them live from 2020, during first wave of pandemic lockdowns, playing tracks from their first two EPs:
