The first thing from the Webcurios site is this Unmute website, that feels like an experimental Flash website from 1999. The site is a joy to play with — an interactive soundboard with all kinds of fun features. It’s a collaboration that seems to be led by Dentsu Lab Tokyo, which I feel like I should know but don’t.
There’s been a lot of chatter about how the internet is no fun anymore, and I disagree — I think we’re just out of practice when it comes to discovery. That’s part of what I’m doing here!
Here are a couple examples of sites that feel like they evolved from when Flash ruled the web.
Font.fish (a weird little spatial font explorer with fun interactivity)
Quantum — a very cool site for some kind of high-tech cling wrap that feels like a TV commercial from a sci-fi movie.
