Where it started

This started out in late 2023 as:

  1. a place to post my book reviews in case Goodreads eats them.
  2. a way for me to learn wordpress, to benefit my professional life (I run a boutique communications agency).

What it is and isn’t

It has slowly morphed into this passion project, which at this writing is:

  1. 3ish book reviews a week (I read a TON, and try to be as varied as I can be)
  2. 4ish music artists features a week (with a distinct Canadian bias). These aren’t reviews, since I don’t write about music I don’t like.
  3. a weekly set of links to short-form writing that I love (short stories and creative nonfiction)
  4. a weekly playlist and some callouts to new artists and great music I’ve heard
  5. other things that seem related – sometimes movies, news articles, other links that I think would appeal to the same audience as the above

I try to be positive, I try to find stuff that’s under the radar or a bit weird. Music and books and stories are important and worth spending time on. The best stuff is never the most popular stuff. Send me good stuff.

A few things it isnt:

  1. politics or news-focused (though sometimes it creeps in)
  2. reviews of artists that are covered amply elsewhere
  3. rewritten press releases, album or tour announcements (again, very availble elsewhere)

What it might be:

It’s still changing! I’d love to have other people write things for this site, either as a guest or regular in any capacity. If you like this and would like to be a part of it, please let me know!
