The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison

The Bluest Eye
Holt, Rinehart and Winston

Shattering, beautiful and essential

Not a lot to say about this one. I’m a bit embarrassed that it’s the first Toni Morrison book I’ve read, but it won’t be the last. It’s shattering, and beautifully written.

It’s a brilliant debut novel – Morrison writes with such humanity that it’s difficult to put the book down, even as the events shock and horrify.

Wish I’d read it years ago.
