Last Call: A True Story of Love, Lust, and Murder in Queer New York by Elon Green

Excellent book. Green chose to focus on humanizing the victims and bringing context to an otherwise grim story.

It shares some air with Missing from the Village, in that the homophobia built into the system worked to delay and weaken the investigation (Toronto Police even have an unexpected guest appearance in this story).

The book feels a bit short, perhaps due to the poor record-keeping noted in the last chapters, but overall it is a gripping but thoughtfully-composed account of a serial killer I hadn’t heard of until now.
