Spotify Playlist. Apple Music Playlist.
Quiet on the blog this week, I had work stuff that pulled me away from this. Being self-employed is a double-edged sword.
One thing this week: If you haven’t watched Pontypool, get on it. Or hear the radio drama in the post.
OK two things: check out Record Club! I’m still checking in there about once a day to play around. New things are fun.
Thank you for checking this out! I hope you find something you like here, and if you’re so inclined for any reason, get in touch.
Want this in your inbox? OK:
New releases from old faves
This is new music that I like from bands I’ve written about recently, but it’s too soon to warrant a whole new post.
All of these artists are in the playlists: Apple Music, Spotify
New singles
- Warburton released two new songs (Bandcamp only for now I think) from an EP releasing in June (sad and lovely, very Toronto)
- SKORTS has a new single out: R4DR4M (hard to pronounce, easy to dance to)
- Lip Filler released CARLING a couple weeks ago and somehow I missed it. Their EP witchescrew comes out next week.
- The Get Alongs released a new single on YouTube: Sound (live from the Orange Lounge) – summertime ’70s rock vibes with a couple really great guitar moments
New music discoveries
If you want to hear a couple tracks from each of these, I’ve made you a mixtape in Apple Music and Spotify.
Check ’em out and if you have anything to say, please do.

“This next song is about crippling depression!” *Crowd goes wild* Instagram | Youtube | Website | Bandcamp Sometimes you need to see a band live to get it. ” After entering his office, his head was replaced with the cartoon visage of Mr. Weatherbee, animating against the background.”
one-sentence thing In Slate, Maggie McCart talks about her condition: prosopometamorphopsia, also referrred to as “demon face syndrome”. A literal waking nightmare: The skin texture on a face can change, or their noses or eyes seem to be stretched and exaggerated in grotesque, plastic-y ways. Sometimes a person’s face and mouth are replaced by geometric…
