Big Ideas for 2025

Rolling into the new year like a dipshit: I broke the screen on my brand new laptop last week, so I’m working from a janky Chromebook borrowed from the local library (support your local library!). It’s slow going, but I’ll make it work. Luckily I prepared a ton of posts during the holidays.

Anyway, following the only post from last week, here are a few things to watch out for here in the coming months:

Better under the hood

This is already apparent, though you can’t see how much work went into it. Part of learning while doing is making mistakes, and I spent tons of time fixing things up visually and functionally. I’ve learned so much in the past year, and hopefully I’m making fewer mistakes now, or at least mistakes that’ll be easier to clean up down the road.

Different voices

I want to open this up to other writers, whether that’s in the form of book recommendations from writers or artists, short stories (by proper writers, not me), someone else’s musical tastes, or adding other types of content (got an idea? Let’s discuss!). If I learned anything last year, it’s that the final form of an idea is always different than the original idea. So watch for some experiments, and if you want to be part of one, let’s do it.

Better posts

This is more for me than for the visitors. Having a clear set of parameters for posting will help avoid lost time and spinning wheels. More focused music posts, more posts about different things, more ways to find other stuff you like on the site. I have a draft of some kind of ‘posting guidelines’ or whatever, not sure if I’m going to post them on the site, but a little method might help make for a little less madness.

Less fluff

I’ve already streamlined the music posts — removed a lot of the decoration, and now lead with a video. They’ll be shorter and more focused on the music, which might enable more music. I’ve already started scheduling out the music posts, and I think January will be a busy one.

Same thing with the newsletter. There’s a lot of streamlining that can be done. First one goes out next Friday, get on the list if you’re not.

More me

I want to write more about themes and ideas, and include some more personal stuff here. Not diary entries, but stuff that’s driven by what’s inside my head. This one I’m least sure about, and it’s entirely possible it won’t happen. We’ll see.

At any rate, thanks for sticking around, and I hope you find lots more to like here in 2025!
