Garbage Day is one of my favourite substacks right now. Ryan is a sharp writer and the content is right up my alley. 

Today he published this video (and accompanying post) discussing a novel approach to regulating AI and it’s great:

The AI guys are on to the next version of ‘move fast and break things’ — something more like ‘move fast and capture the regulators’. Every AI guy saw Zuckerberg and friends get beat at their own game (eg. Cambridge Analytica) and paraded in front of Congress to explain themselves. So they pitch themselves as the regulator of choice, because tech is too complicated for the government to understand. 

Terrible idea, clearly, but governments seem to lack any better ones. Maybe someone should ask Ryan.
