Let this run for one single minute and try to turn it off. Bet you can’t:

Lou Smith for President, or whatever he wants. Thanks to him I’m a huge fan of Sofia and the Antoinettes. This happened before with Punchbag and Luvcat: a performance video from an artist that’s new to me, that’s enough to make me a fan, despite there being almost no commercial release.

Sofia and the Antoinettes has two songs out (the second just came out today), but they’re moody, cinematic and gorgeous. That five-song set from The George Tavern is outstanding — well-mixed and well-recorded, and above all well-performed. There isn’t a whole lot more to say at this point, as there hasn’t been a lot of coverage of the band. I imagine that’ll change soon though: the new single looks like it’s taking off for them, and I can’t wait to hear more.
