Sometimes you just know. Hit play on this and give it 45 seconds:
There’s so much to like about that track – the bass groove and drumming, obviously. The detached, laid-back vocal just oozes charisma. The video is cool as hell (Andonni Tsolingkas is the animator) but starting the song with a long falsetto ooooeeeeooooEEEEoooo is such a fun choice. Once the song settles in at the 0:24 mark, I was sold.
So who is Sediments? At first I thought it was one producer, but nope. Sediments is a Dutch four-piece band with one original EP and a remix EP out. The first EP (titled A) was released in April of 2023. It’s only four tracks but every one of them seems perfect for an ad or film scene or anywhere else you’d use a David Holmes track.
“Thanks Again But Thanks No Thanks Man” has one of the best titles in music, and the lyrics are a fun bit anti-consumerism:
Early this year they released three remixes of the above track as a single. The remixes are interesting, but I don’t think any of them are a step up (or even sideways) from the original.
It’s surprising that there aren’t more visualisers (or simple YouTube vids with stills) available. Combine that with the SEO-resistant band and song names, and the whole thing is extra of mysterious.
Their website promises two more EPs (titled B and C) in 2024.
