This indie/emo band has been on my list for a while, but with no music out since 2021, I held off a little. Then they were added to the performers list at GAIN Fest in Guelph this weekend (with blog faves Days on Parade, Shiv and the Carvers, and lots more if you can make it).

Then, they released a new track called Lavender, and it’s great:

Prior release Dear Friend (released as two EPs) has been in heavy rotation since I came across it a few months ago. It’s got real Dashboard Confessional/Modern Baseball/Death Cab emo energy to it. Just play it:

The songwriting is candid and personal. They directly and frankly address mental health issues, and more than once I stopped doing something else to listen to a lyric again. The vocal delivery is unusual too, singer Holly Forrest (aha!) lets her Aussie accent come through clearly and distinctly. This video is adorable:

Per their website, they’re not rushing the music. I wish I could get to Guelph this weekend to hear them live, but I hope there’s an album and a tour that gives a whole lot of people a chance to find out about them.
