This Toronto band plays with several other alt-rock and indie punk bands I’ve featured here. This is one of those bands that make it really hard to pick a couple songs to highlight, as their sound is pretty broad-ranging, from poppy punk to Empire Records-style 90’s alt-rock. The lead singer’s name is Violet DeRege Braga, and she’s a great songwriter.

The first track I heard was the demo above, which has a killer laid-back vibe and super loose recording – it sounds like it was recorded live, except that it credits one person with playing bass, drums and guitar.

Their first LP came out last year, and some tracks have real Dance Hall Crashers energy:

Their non-album stuff tends to be a lot softer indie-rock style – their demos aren’t available on streaming, and it’s worth digging into their Bandcamp to hear it all. They’re excellent live too, it’s clear they’ve been doing this for a while. The whole live set is worth checking out (and could be an EP on its own). A standout from that collection is Your House:

I was just about to hit publish here when I stumbled across the live performance below, courtesy of GH360 (which is a publication by University of Guelph-Humber that I just learned about).

The CD is cheap (if you live in Canada). They’re going on a short tour this summer, and apparently have a new EP coming out too.
