Clutter

Clutter’s trio of noisy, jagged indie rock singles makes for gloriously controlled chaos.

This is going to be super brief, but Stockholm’s Clutter recently hit the three-song threshold and I can post about them now. The first single, “Holy Brother”, found me via So Young magazine back in September—and it’s been a weird favourite since. It’s jagged, noisy, and raw, evoking 90s bands like The Breeders and Sonic Youth. The dual vocals and the balance of melodic chorus against the yelled verses make for a compelling debut of controlled chaos.

The second release, “Jesus” was released in October, and came with a music video, in which the band looks way too young to be doing it this well1:

A couple of weeks ago Clutter released their third single, “Kraut”, which slows things down a bit, but doesn’t tone down the noisy, recorded-in-one-take sound2 or the sense of urgency.

With this single they announced the April 11 release of their debut EP Loves You on PNKSLM, which will include “Kraut”, “Jesus” and four unreleased tracks.

Clutter is opening for Hinds in the UK right now – they’ve also sold out headline shows in small venues in London and elsewhere. Can’t wait to hear more.

  1. They’re 20, but in the “Jesus” video, they look 13 and already killing it.
  2. I don’t know if they record live, but it sure sounds like it
